What is a doula?
A doula is a professional support person trained in the needs of the family during pregnancy and childbirth (birth doula), and in the first year (postpartum). The doula offers non-judgmental support, guidance, evidence-based education and practical hands-on support, including comfort measures during childbirth. Doula originates from the Greek word meaning woman servant. A birth doula recognizes the profound impact of childbirth on the mother, and a postpartum doula recognizes the unique needs of the family in the first year following the addition of a new baby.
What that actually means.
As your doula, I will be there to provide Christian-based, holistic, naturally-minded support, resources, and education throughout your pregnancy. I will be there for you every step of the way. I will be on-call for your labor starting at 38 weeks and will be there in short order to provide hands-on support during your labor and delivery.
